                                            DERMIS

-"Core of Integumentary system”
-Contains Blood and lymph vessels, nerves, hair follicles and sweat glands
-Two layers
               *Papillary Layer
                                 -Loose areolar connective tissue
                                 -Dermal Papillae (see Epidermis)
                                 -Fibroblasts, adipocytes, lymphatic capillaries, nerve fibers, and Meissner corpuscles
                                 -Phagocytes
                                            *Fight bacteria or other infections that breach skin
                *Reticular Layer
                                -Thicker than Papillary
                                -Dense irregular tissue
                                -Vascularized, a lot of sympathetic and sensory nerves
                                -Elastin Fibers
                                          *Enable movement
                                -Collagen fibers
                                          *Provide structure
                                          *Keep skin hydrated
