THERMOREGULATION

Thermoregulation
-Integumentary system helps regulate internal temperature
-Sympathetic Nervous system keeps tab on and reacts to the internal temperature
-About 500 mililiters (mL) of sweat is excreted every day
-When the body is in heat, engaged in exercise, or both, the Sympathetic Nervous system stimulates sweat glands
*When the sweat evaporates, the skin is cooled
*Arterioles dialate to let out excess heat
-This is the skin redness experienced while exercising
-In cold temperatures arterioles constrict
*White color of the skin
*Lessens heat loss
